About Us

In early 2005, while snowboarding Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, MT, Above The Ridge Outfitters was born.  Fresh powder was covering the mountain and the view from the ridge was unforgettable.  We had outstanding weather, the gear we needed and there wasn’t anything stopping us from having the best day possible.

But what made that an unforgettable day?  For us, it was a lot of things, but especially not having to worry about anything else but the line in front of us.  From that moment on, we decided to get back to basics – the core of an adventure.  The basics include quality gear, affordable prices and above all else, customer service.  Customer service is our number one priority

We focus on each person, one by one, start to finish, ensuring you are finding exactly what you’re looking for, are getting the right gear for your adventure and are going to be happy with your purchase for a very long time.  We treat you with the same respect that we expect as a customer.  We take the time listen to you and your feedback, because you are the ones lucky enough to be using the gear probably more often than we can.  We want you to have those unforgettable days.  Your whole focus should be on the adventure or the journey you’re about to embark on, and the lifetime memory you’re about to create, not whether you're going to be hassled by your purchase.

If you look at some company websites, their About Us page will tell you how large their warehouse is, how many warehouses they have, or how many years of brick and mortar experience they have. That doesn't necessarily mean they focus on quality instead of quantity, ensuring great customer service is above their bottom line. A lot of them won't even disclose that they are part of a corporate holdings company and are not privately owned anymore, but try and represent themselves to be "family owned". And you might even notice they really don't tell you anything about who they are, why they started or how they got there. We do. The pictures you see are ours. Family trips paddling, hiking, biking and just being outdoors. That's what we love and that's what we do.

When we're not helping customers find the best gear for their adventure, and we’re afforded the opportunity to take a break, we are out there on the trail by foot or fat tire next to you, paddling in the water in a kayak or on a board, logging some road miles in a group ride, or just relaxing by a campfire, all the while testing the gear we offer to ensure it meets and exceeds our standards and ultimately yours.

At Above The Ridge, located in the heart of historic downtown Ringgold, GA, you will find exceptional high quality outdoor gear from manufacturers such as Chacos, Sanuk, Marmot, Hippy Tree, Meridian Line, Osprey, Mountainsmith, KAVU, Dakine, ENO, Smith Optics, LEKI, Sock Guy, Outdoor Research, Mad Rock Climbing, Metolius, Oboz Footwear, Darn Tough, Minus33, Screamer, Camelbak, Ruffwear and Hydro Flask just to name a few. Ok, that's a lot, but there's still more! We hand pick the companies and brands we want to represent and offer because they have that extreme passion, spirit and focus for the outdoors and are concerned with the quality of product they are creating for the adventurer - YOU! You can probably find what you’re looking for at Above The Ridge Outfitters,  or you can bet that we’re out there looking for it so we can bring it back to you.

Spring is somewhere around the corner, but we're still waiting! Check your gear as you prepare for your Spring / Summer adventures and let us help you get outside if we can.
